“ADMIN COY OUTSWIMS THE COMPETITON”

In a closely contested competition, Administrative Company out swam the rest of the Support and Services Battalion Sub-Units to win the SSB Swimming Competition held at the National Stadium Swimming Pool on Wednesday 04 January 2011.
On entering the National Stadium Swimming Pool, one could feel the tension in the air as each Sub Unit competed for bragging right.
The JDF swimming competition not only allows members of the Force to showcase their swimming talents but also helps to develop their swimming skills at a competitive level.

The competition was held to help select swimmers to represent the Battalion in the Force Swimming Competition slated to be held later this month.
This year’s competition saw Major Judith Johnson of Medical Company, copping the award for Best Female Swimmer, after an outstanding display of swimming skills.
“I am very pleased to win this award,” said Major Johnson, “as the other competitors were very good swimmers.”
She went on to say that she had not swam in a long while and had she been training, she could have put on a better performance.

After the final event it was no surprise who would receive the champion male swimmer, as one person stood out in all events entered.
Private Omar King of Administrative Company was crowned Champion Swimmer of this year’s competition. “I was fully prepared for this year’s competition because I had put in a lot of training,” said Pte King. He also said that he expects great things from himself in this year’s Force Competition.
At the presentation ceremony that followed the competition, the Acting Commanding Officer of the Unit, Major Wayne Robinson stressed the significance of persons learning to swim. He said that he expects the Unit to do much better in this year’s competition in comparison to previous years.
Maj Robinson thanked all participants for putting on a great show at such short notice and said he is looking forward to greater things in the Force’s competition.
