LENGTH & SCOPE: This is a twenty-one weeks residential course which generally includes: Bridge Management, General Naval Knowledge, Seamanship, Meteorology, Chartwork, Coastal Navigation, Compass Bearings, Courses and Errors, Methods of obtaining a position line, Calculating the position of the Ship, General Navigation, Rising and Setting Phenomena, Visual Aids to Navigation, Tides, Publications, Relative Velocity and Rules of the Road, Ships Standing Orders, Shipboard Organization and Emergencies etc.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: This course is designed is designed to ensure the professional effectiveness of Naval Officers in exercising their duties and as such, provides basic navigation skills to potential Officers of the Watch. The major areas covered by this course are the conduct of visual navigation, applictation of Rules of the Road, performing Officer of the Watch duties, meteorology and bridge resource management. The objective of the course is met by a combination of theoretical and practical training.

LENGTH & SCOPE: This course is five weeks in duration and includes classroom, range, simulator and underway time.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: The course is open to all ranks of the JDF CG or equivalent organizations including members of the Marine Police and Customs Officers. Students must have normal manual dexterity, good vision and the ability to read and write english. Basic weapon handling skills will be an asset. The course provide all candidates with the skills and knowledge required to board and search vessels and provide physical security as a part of the Naval Boarding Party conducting boarding operations at sea

LENGTH & SCOPE: The Basic Marine Engineering course will be developed to cover bench craft and technical drawing, electronics, ship husbandry and damage control, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, Outboard motor maintenance and troubleshooting, introduction to diesel engines theory and practical. LENGTH & SCOPE: This is a eight week course which is designed to provide trainees with Seamanship (theory and practical) relevant to the management of a seamanship department onboard an offshore patrol vessel. Areas of focus include navigation, shipboard evolutions, deck maintenance and management, drydocking procedures, advanced ropework and crew management.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: Candidates should be the minimum rank of a Senior Non Commissioned Officers and qualified as a JDF CG Class One Seaman or equivalent. The course is designed to give candidates the necessary skills and knowledge to function independently and effectively in the performance of their duties as the coxswain onboard offshore patrol vessels with particular emphasis on Seamanship, Navigation and deck personnel management.

LENGTH & SCOPE: This is a nine weeks course which includes: the employment of onboard electronics to include GPS, FLIR, night vision and other electronic systems, Rules of the Road, seamanship, towing operations and identifying and boarding different platforms.

LENGTH & SCOPE: This course will be designed to provide information regarding the command and control of a ship and the ships company in support of Joint and Maritime Operations. It includes but will not be limited to Maritime Law, Ship Management and Ship Handling. (duration of course to tbc)
SPECIAL INFORMATION: This course is designed to train potential Commanding Officers of Offshore Patrol Vessels, in the safe handling and employment of these warships in maritime operations. Candidates are required to possess a high degree of prior experience in the theory and practical of operations at sea. The course emphasizes the peace time aspect of Command at sea.

LENGTH & SCOPE: This ten weeks course will prepare the junior officer who has completed his/her Bridge Watchkeeping training and at least 18 months at sea to become a First Lieutenant onboard an offshore patrol vessel. The course will include Ship management and systems, ship handling, Ship officer responsibilities, Fishery Protection, Maritime Law, Shipboard Evolutions, General Navigation and Ship Handling.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: The course aims to enable potential Executive Officers with the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to effectively perforrm their duties as the second in command onboard an offshore patrol vessel.

LENGTH & SCOPE: This is a one week course that will cover the theory and practical of search and rescue planning, coordination and execution.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: The course aims to introduce the concept of navigationg teams to Commanding Officers and Officers of the Watch and to frame their decision making process towards establishing watch conditions during the course of a voyage. Bridge Resource Management techniques will emphasize decision making based upon conditions related to workload and potential threat to the vessel. The training objective is met through a high proportion of simulator time, interspersed with lectures on human factors and decision making.
