THE NATIONAL RESERVE MARCHES
ON
Annual Camp
By law, annually, the National Reserves are required to undergo two weeks of
continuous training (Annual Camp), which usually takes place in the last two
weeks of July. This year, for the first time in the history of 3JR (NR),
Annual Camp will run for the entire month of July.
Potential Officer Course
Once a Potential Officer has
successfully completed basic military training the candidate will then be
enrolled in a Potential Officer course,
which will last for one year. The objectives of this course are as follows:

To develop commanders
with courage and will power, with a temperament for decisive actions in
difficult circumstances.

To foster attitudes of
integrity, selflessness and loyalty.

To teach candidates
how to think and communicate as commanders.

To encourage the
analysis of strategic and war studies as a foundation for military
thought and wisdom.

To train candidates in
the basic skills and battlefield disciplines of soldiering.
At annual camp 2004, 3JR
(NR) commenced a Potential Officer course for nine Potential Officers. There
are presently seven persons left on the course that is expected to end at
annual camp 2005. Those successful in the course will be recommended for
commission.
There are thirteen Potential Officers who will commence training at annual
camp 2005.

Unit will be running its
annual Cross Country competition. 29 July 2005.
