Welfare
Housing, Messes & Clubs
Housing
Whenever possible, married soldiers are allowed to live in
married quarters. Those allowed to live out are granted rent, ration and travelling
allowance.
Private procurement of houses through Government-sponsored
schemes are arranged by the Force from time to time.
Messes and Clubs
There are messes and clubs which provide social and
recreational activities for their members and their families. These institutions are run
by persons selected from among the membership but the Commanding Officer of the Unit under
which the mess or club falls is the trustee.
These institutions are sustained by subscriptions, profits
made from certain sales and by profits made by fund-raising functions. Profits are kept to
a necessary minimum.
