Support and Services Battalion have once again outplayed their opponents to retain the Volleyball championship trophy of the Jamaica Defence Force.
The 2003 Force Volleyball Competition held in August 2003 saw the eight major units of the Force competing in two groups with the winners and the runners up of each group moving into the semi-finals. The tournament included a female competition with three female barracks rooms competing for top honours.

The volleyball competition began with a match between the defending champion Support and Services Battalion versus JDF Coast Guard. The competition, particularly the matches with the 1st Battalion the Jamaica Regiment and Support and Services Battalion stimulated much excitement. The JDF Air Wing and 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF) had a close match with scores reigning 28-30. There was a not easily forgotten exhibition match between the military officers against Warrant Officers and Senior Non Commissioned Officers (WO/SNCOs).

According Lieutenant David Clarke, Officer in Charge, “There were many entertaining moments with players never giving up on seemingly lost players and somehow managing to salvage a point. There were great comebacks and blowouts.” “All in all,” he said, “It was a rather exiting set of games and matches.”

The finals which were slated for the 27th of August was postponed due to inclement weather. The postponement only seemed to bring anticipation to fever pitch. The fans were not disappointed as the finals proved to be as exciting and entertaining as anticipated.
“To the victors, Support and Services Battalion, Number 3 Barrack Room and the WO/SNCOs cheers, to the spectators and well wishers thanks and see you next year”, offered the Volleyball Officer Lieutenant Clarke.
