Support Battalion Retains Volleyball Championship
Support and Services Battalion have once again outplayed their opponents to
retain the Volleyball championship trophy of the Jamaica Defence Force.
The volleyball competition began with a match between the defending champion Support and Services Battalion versus JDF Coast Guard. The competition, particularly the matches with the 1st Battalion the Jamaica Regiment and Support and Services Battalion stimulated much excitement. The JDF Air Wing and 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF) had a close match with scores reigning 28-30. There was a not easily forgotten exhibition match between the military officers against Warrant Officers and Senior Non Commissioned Officers (WO/SNCOs).
According Lieutenant David Clarke, Officer in Charge, “There were many entertaining moments with players never giving up on seemingly lost players and somehow managing to salvage a point. There were great comebacks and blowouts.” “All in all,” he said, “It was a rather exiting set of games and matches.”
The finals which were slated for the 27th of August was postponed due to
inclement weather. The postponement only seemed to bring anticipation to
fever pitch. The fans were not disappointed as the finals proved to be as
exciting and entertaining as anticipated. |
