Force Cross
Country Competition – The Test of Endurance
In a few days, members of the
Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) will gather for the Force’s annual cross-country
competition. The competing units are First Battalion The Jamaica Regiment,
Second Battalion The Jamaica Regiment, Support and Services Battalion, 1
Engineer Regiment (JDF), JDF Air Wing, JDF Coast Guard and the Third
Battalion The Jamaica Regiment (National Reserve).
The competition will be held on Wednesday 25 September, 2002. Units are vigorously preparing for the event. Early in the mornings,
teams can be seen running the tracks in Up Park Camp and in the afternoons,
even in torrential downpours, the teams can still be seen training.
The Third Battalion The Jamaica Regiment (National Reserve), the defending
champion, is expected to face great competition as the other units of the
Jamaica Defence Force have made it obvious that it is time for a change,
time to declare a new champion unit. The question is who shall it be? Will
it be the Unit that that stands first and foremost, the one that is second
to none, the hub of the JDF, the tactical and technical, the one that sees
everything from the air or the Unit that protects the waters?
Whichever it will be, one thing is for certain. The winner will be the unit
with the most determination, strength, stamina and endurance. Find the team
with those qualities and there you will find the winner. On Wednesday 25
September 2002, let the race begin and may the best unit win!
