The mid- morning sun radiated on young Mark Miller’s cheerful demeanour as he prepared for this interview; beaming with enthusiasm to tell his story.   The eleven-year-old student of Iris Gelly Primary School in Kingston performed exceptionally during the 2009 GSAT Examinations.   He is selected to attend Campion College in September 2009 after achieving high scores in his GSAT exams.

Mark Lives in Up Park Camp with both parents.   His father, a soldier, at
1 Engineer Regiment (JDF), is aware of his son’s ability, “I knew my son would perform well based on his consistent performance during the school year, so his achievement came as no surprise to me,” said Lance Corporal Mark Miller.

Young Miller shone with confidence, concurring with what his father said.

Mark Miller states that his motivation comes from his family, in particular, his mother who teaches him both at home and school. The young scholar highlighted that for fun he enjoys exploring and travelling. I like to explore the different types of rocks and trees because in the future I want to become a geologist. The youngster also wants to be an entrepreneur.

The junior is also highly competitive, as one of the driving forces behind his success was to out-perform his brother, Phillip who currently attends the Wolmers’ Boy’s School.

In the very interesting interview with Mark, he revealed one of his good traits that of empathy, especially towards those who are less fortunate.

Mark does not have any special study habits but says, “I just remember what I am
Taught”. His advice to his peers and those preparing for exams is to study hard and do your best.
