Change of Command Parade

At 1600 hours (4:00 pm) on the 14 November 1998 another milestone in the history of the Jamaica Defence Force was laid when a parade to mark the ceremonial handover/takeover of the command of the Jamaica Defence Force was held on the Polo Field at Up Park Camp. During the ceremony, the outgoing Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Peter Brady, after giving over thirty-four years of sterling service to the JDF, over seven years of which he held the appointment of Chief of Staff, handed over the "helm" to Colonel J I Simmonds.

The parade was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Audley Carter, then Commanding Officer of the Second Battalion The Jamaica Regiment, and the Parade Regimental Sergeant Major was Warrant Officer Class One David Norman of the Jamaica Regiment Headquarters. All Units of the JDF and the Colours of the Jamaica Regiment were on parade.

The general public was invited and the parade was well attended.
