JDF AW GROUNDED BY 2JR IN THRILLING ENCOUNTER

The first phase of the Force Football Competition ended on Friday 19 June 2009 with the playing of the Knockout Final between the Second Battalion The Jamaica Regiment and the Jamaica Defence Force Air Wing at the No. 1 Football Field, Up Park Camp.

The game was very competitive as both teams tried to outscore each other.  It was the JDF AW who opened the score line in the seventh minute of the game.   In less than two minutes the second Battalion hit back to level the score line

Players from the Support and Services Battalion team (left & right) tackle a
JDF Air Wing player (center) to get the ball.

The Second Battalion made their intensions clear that they wanted to win with two unanswered goal, however, the JDF AW did not roll over and play dead as in the late stages of the second half they fired back with an exciting goal which brought the spectators to their feet’s.

Jamaica Defence Force Civilian player (left) defends the ball hoping to
take possession from JDF Coast Guard player (right).

However, in the end it was the Second Battalion which came out victorious and copped the Knockout trophy with a 3-2 victory.

The second phase of the competition begins on Monday 22 June 2009 with the playing of the League Competition.

This 1JR (2nd left) player tried to help his goalkeeper to stop the ball from
scoring by kicking away the ball from the 2JR player making
sure that they did not score a goal.

Other Units of the Force should be entering the Competition to give a good account of themselves and prevent the Second Battalion from taking the double.

If the League Competition remains as competitive as the Knockout Competition was, then the spectators will be in for a treat.
2JR put the ball in the back of the net leaving the JDF AW goalkeeper flying to stop
it while the rest of his team was still stunned that 2JR had scored.
