The JDF Football Team, the ‘Marching Men’,
finished the preliminary round of the inaugural Craven ‘A" League 10 points clear of
their closest rival, the White Horses Football Club of St Thomas. The results
automatically qualified the JDF to compete in next year’s Premier League, the top football
league in Jamaica.
In the two-leg semi-finals, the JDF found a tough opponent in
the Reno Football Club. In the first leg, both teams battled to 1-1 draw in Jarrett Park,
Montego Bay. The second leg was even more keenly contested which the JDF won.
The JDF will also participate in the Jamaica National
sponsored Federation Cup Knock Out Competition which begins on Wednesday 25 March 1998.
