10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
1 ENGINEER REGIMENT (JDF)

1 Engineer Regiment (JDF) became operational on April 01, 1992. Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) S E Thompson had the honour of being the first Commanding Officer of the Unit, setting a rich tradition to be followed.   The unit is currently commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Sadler.

The Regiment, in commemoration of its 10th Anniversary, held a special parade on 02 April, 2002, to mark the occasion.  Major O O Khan, Staff Officer Operations and Training, from Headquarters (JDF), and the Force Chaplain, Major Reverend S E Kitson, offered prayers and a short devotion.  Lieutenant Colonel Thompson was the special guest.

After inspecting the troops on parade, Lieutenant Colonel Thompson reminded the men and women present of the rich history of military engineers, and the Engineer Regiment in particular, and congratulated them on the completion of ten successful years.  He also made special mention of the civilian employees, many of whom have been with the Regiment since its formation.

Other functions to be held as a part of the 10th Anniversary celebrations include a special sports day, to be held on Wednesday April 10, 2002.  There will also be a Regiment Open Day on Friday April 12, 2002, where the capabilities of the Regiment will be displayed.  The activities will end with a Church Service at the Garrison Chapel on Sunday April 21 2002.
