Join the Jamaica Defence Force

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) will be embarking on an Islandwide Recruiting
drive over the period 07 to 18 January 2002.

Young men who are interested in enlisting in the JDF may visit any one of the
following Recruiting Centres at 7:30 a.m. on the dates indicated:

          May Pen (location to be confirmed)     –     Mon 07 – Tue 08 Jan 02.

          Foster Barracks in Mandeville, Manchester     –     Wed 09 Jan 02.

          Savanna-la-mar (location to be confirmed)     –     Thu 10 Jan 02.

          Montego Bay (location to be confirmed)     –     Fri 11 Jan 02.

          Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard Base in Discovery Bay, (next to Puerto
          Seco Beach) St Ann     –     Tue 15 Jan 02.

          Whitehorne Barracks in Port Maria, St Mary     –     Wed 16 Jan 02.

          Port Antonio (location to be confirmed)     –     Thu 17 Jan 02.

          Morant Bay (location to be confirmed)     –     Fri 18 Jan 02.

Interested persons must fulfil the following:

          Be between the age of 18 to 23 years.

          Be of Jamaican Nationality.

          Be a minimum of 170 cm (5’7”) tall.

          Have attained a minimum educational standard of grade (9).

Be medically fit, that is;

          No Dental cavities

          No previous broken limbs/knee injury.

          No heart problem.

          No history of asthma or epilepsy.

          No abnormal curvature of spine.

          No deformity of fingers or toes.

          Not undergoing mental treatment.

          Not diabetic.

Applicants should ensure that they are in possession of an immunisation
card and have received vaccinations for the following:

          Chicken Pox.
          Polio.
          Measles.
          Diptheria.
          Mumps.
          Rhubella.

Applicants are also required to take along the following:

          Two (02) recent recommendations (not more than three (03) months old).

          Two (02) recent passport sized photographs, certified by a Justice of the Peace.

          A certified copy of Birth Certificate (original).

          A certified copy of School Leaving Certificate/School Record and any other
          academic achievements.
