New military aviation school to put dent in drugs and guns trade
The country’s counter narcotics operations have been given a boost with the opening of a military aviation school.
It was officially opened Thursday at the Jamaica Defence Force Air Wing based at the Norman Manley International Airport.
Minister of National Security, Dr. Peter Phillips, says the school’s opening marks a step forward in strengthening efforts to put a dent in the narcotics and gun trade.
The construction of the aviation school which will train 20 students from the Caribbean is a joint effort between the governments of Jamaica and Canada.
The school will train helicopter and multi engine air-craft pilots.
