Warrant Officer Class One Anthony Lysight

Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Anthony LYSIGHT, Force Sergeant Major (FSM) of the Jamaica Defence Force President of the Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess, was born in the parish of Kingston, Jamaica on 25 November 1968. He attained his formal education at the Calabar Primary School, Meadowbrook High School, University of the West Indies (UWI) and the University College of the Caribbean (UCC) respectively. WO1 LYSIGHT enlisted into the Jamaica Defence Force in July 1988 and completed his basic recruit training at the Moneague Training Camp (MTC), St Ann where his distinguished military career began.

Throughout his career, WO1 LYSIGHT has had the distinction of attending several military courses both locally and internationally to include, Potential Non-Commissioned Officers’ Cadre, Section Commanders Battle Course and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Cadre graduating as the top student on all three (3) courses. In 2004 he attended the United States Army Sergeants Major Course and obtained a diploma, finishing with a ninety-five percent (95%) average as a part of class 55 (double nickel).

He has also taken part in numerous multinational military exercises and exchanges. WO1 LYSIGHT spent more than ten (10) years of his twenty-nine (29) year career as an instructor at many levels. This included the training of eight (8) basic recruit intakes, sixteen (16) Junior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Cadres, five (5) Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Cadres and three (3) Instructor Courses and an internal security course. His affinity for training led him to Bermuda where he assisted in the basic training of recruits and from there to North Carolina where he trained two (2) cadres of Bermudan soldiers. He has also served as a member of the Directing Staff as well as Chief Instructor on several Warrant Officers’ Courses held at the Caribbean Junior Command and Staff College, MTC, St Ann, Jamaica.

WO1 LYSIGHT has held several appointments throughout his distinguished military career to include Section Commander, Platoon Sergeant, Training Sergeant, Permanent Staff Instructor, Operations Sergeant Major, Company Sergeant Major, and Regimental Sergeant Major. He was appointed to his present appointment of FSM on 1 December 2014. He attended the international training and leader development symposium, in April 2016, El Paso, Texas and was inducted in the into the Sergeant Major Academy Hall of Fame (International), an honour bestowed on those who attended USASMA, successfully complete the course and attain to the most senior position in their military. WO1 Lysight was the Host Senior enlisted rank for the inaugural Caribbean Senior Enlisted Leaders Forum (CSELF) held in Jamaica 2017.

He is the recipient of the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service (2013), Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012), Medal of Honour for Long Service and Good Conduct (2007), First Bar to the Medal of Honour for Long Service and Good Conduct (2013). WO1 LYSIGHT holds a National Vocational Qualification Certificate in Assessment Level 4, an Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration from the UWI and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the UCC. FSM LYSIGHT is married to Karen and is a committed father to Debon and Shaneil.
