Colonel Richard A Sadler, Lieutenant
Colonel Richard A SADLER is the Commanding Officer (CO) of 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF) and
has held that appointment since 1995. He is responsible for all construction, facilities
maintenance and combat engineering matters in the Force and oversees some national
development projects. A former headboy of Campion College, Kingston, he enlisted in the JDF in 1974 directly from sixth form and completed basic officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He has attended and successfully completed several other courses in the UK. These include a civil engineering degree course at the Royal Military College of Science, Shrivenham, a Professional Engineer Training course at the Royal School of Military Engineering, Chatham and command and staff training at the Army Staff College, Camberley. He also completed an Executive MBA at the University of the West Indies with distinction. Prior to becoming CO, Lt Col SADLER held various appointments to include Officer Commanding JDF Construction Squadron, Administrative Director 1983 Military Tattoo, Projects Officer JDF Engineer Unit, Officer Commanding JDF Engineer Unit, Second-in-Command Support and Services Battalion and Second-in-Command 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF). He was seconded for 18 months in the UK to contractor, John Mowlem & Company, and leading consultant, Ove Arup & Partners. He was awarded the military Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service in 1992. He has also received various prizes for academic excellence and presentation of a technical paper on the project management and construction of Microdams in Jamaica. He is married and the father of three (03) children. He is a qualified military parachutist with a keen interest in cross-country running and swimming. His hobbies include photography and computers. |
