            The Jamaica Defence Force participated in the 42nd World Military Shooting Championship in India,the fourth staging of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), Military World Games 12 – 23 Oct 07.  This is the second consecutive year that the JDF competed in this shooting championship.   

            Last year’s competition was held in Oslo, Norway where only two shooters (WO2 Coley and WO1 Forrester) participated in the individual events.  This year’s team  comprised  SSgt Patrick McDonald (team captain), who has represented the JDF in shooting for over15 years.  The other members of the team are Cpl Brett Mignott, LCpl Lovelle Clarke and Pte Leon Peynado, the last three winners of the prestigious Queen’s Medal for Champion Shot (this is the highest shooting award that a soldier earns in the UK and Commonwealth countries).  The team is coached by WO1 Forrester, also a Queen’s Medal Finalist on many occasions throughout his 27 years in the military.

While in India, the team participated in the Standard 3 Positions, and Military Rapid Fire individual and team events. This entailed competitors engaging targets from 300 metres within a specified time and from various positions.
