Major General Rocky R. Meade, OD, JP, PhD, MMAS, MA, BA (Hons), psc

Major General Rocky Meade is Jamaica's 3rd Chief of Defence Staff and 11th Head of the JDF. He assumed the role on December 1, 2016.

In thanking the Prime Minister and the Defence Board for showing confidence in him, Major General Meade also paid tribute to his former commander, Major General Antony Anderson, outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, and another former Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Rudolph Green, who died on Wednesday night. Before his promotion yesterday, Major General Meade served the JDF as Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, with responsibility for the strategic and long term planning and development of the Force and related policies.

He has also served the JDF as Colonel General Staff, Commanding Officer of 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF), Commanding Officer of the Support and Services Battalion and Commandant of the Caribbean Junior Command and Staff College. He is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom and began his military service as a Platoon Commander in the Second Battalion The Jamaica Regiment (2JR) before serving in the JDF Air Wing as a Line Pilot, Administrative Officer, Flight Safety Officer, Instructor Pilot, Fixed Wing Flight Commander and Commanding Officer (acting).

Major General Meade holds a BA (Hons) and an MA degree from the University of the West Indies, a Master of Military Arts and Science (MMAS) degree from the US Army War College, Fort Leavenworth and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Amsterdam.
