Master Chief Petty Officer One (MCPO1) Lancelot Everton CHARLES

MCPO1 Lancelot Everton CHARLES was born in Trench Town in the Parish of Kingston on 19 September 1963. He received primary and secondary education at Crescent All Age and Knockalva Agricultural School in 1983 where he attained a range two certificate.

MCPO1 Lancelot Everton CHARLES was enlisted in the Jamaica Defence Force on 10 March 1986 and upon successful completion of his basic training at the JDF Training Depot, Newcastle, he was posted the JDF CG.

MCPO1 Lancelot Everton CHARLES was promoted to the rank of MCPO1 on 17 March 2016 and appointed Regulating MCPO of the JDF Coast Guard on the 1 May 2016.

MCPO1 CHARLES attended various military and professional courses to include Basic Seamanship Course (29 Oct - 10 Dec 86), Junior Non-Commissioned Officers' Cadre (12 Jun - 6 Aug 88), Physical Training Instructor Course (6 Aug 89), Platoon Commanders' Battle Course (18 Aug - 9 Nov 91), Special Force Course (21 Feb 92), Supervisor Skill Course (2 - 13 Mar 92), Seamanship C2 & C1 (Feb 90 & May 92), Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Standard First Aid Course (20 May 93), Coastal/Riverine Operation Course (8 Jul 93), Basic Drug Law.

MCPO1 CHARLES military and professional courses span locally and internationally. Enforcement Course (21 Feb 96), JDF Security Course (6-22 Jan 94), Marine Safety and Port Operations Course (15 Nov 95), Coxswain 41 Course (Dec 96), Advance Drill Course (Feb 14), Naval Drill Instructor Course Feb 16).

MCPO1 CHARLES was a Naval Drill Instructor for Naval Courses Cadres and Chief Instructor while being at Moneague Training Wing. (MTW).

MCPO1 CHARLES was awarded a certificate for ten-week intensive course in Marketing and Sales at the University Of West Indies School Of Continuing Study on 31 July 2000; Awarded a certificate for a one year course in Marketing at the University of West Indies School of Continuing Studies on 31 July 2001; awarded a certificate for a one year course in Supervisory Management at the University of the West Indies School of Continuing Studies on 16 July 2004 and awarded a certificate for a eight weeks course in Microsoft Word at Wes Computer School on 22 July 2009.

MCPO1 CHARLES held many key appointments such as Coxswain on board P7 Fort Charles, HMJS Savanna Point, HMJS Cornwall, Warrant Officer at Recruiting Office, Sergeant Major MTW, and Sergeant Major at HQ JDF and Regulating MCPO1 at Coast Guard.

He is the recipient of the Medal of Honour for Long Service and Good Conduct and the Queens Jubilee Medal.

MCPO1 Charles is an avid sports man. He enjoys playing football, table tennis and athletics. He is married with two children.
